The speakers at the morning and evening services were phenomenal…

The worship/choir music was anointed, also…

God has raised Pastor Rick up in this fellowship

and has equipped him to encourage others to fall in love with Jesus

and to make “Melodies from the heart unto the Lord”.

The Lord has blessed Pastor Rick with an ability to write songs, such as;

Bread And Water…That’s Just What We Need!!

‘Bread and Water’ is a poignant track about a seemingly homeless man who wanders into a mission looking for food but finding a whole lot more. The Country Music Hall of Famer sat down with The Boot to tell us how his brother Bob, who passed away in 1993, inspired the song.

“‘Bread and Water’ was a song I wrote with Leslie Satcher,” Vince explains. “I threw out this line: ‘One night, he wandered into that old mission.’ The first lines of songs are the most important part of the songs. If you really want to tell a story, that first line has to capture you. I said that line and then got a big lump in my throat and almost teared up. It reminded me of my brother.

“My brother had a rough stretch of life,” continues the country legend. “He had a car wreck at age 21 and was almost killed. He was in a coma for many months and wasn’t expected to live, and he never really fully recovered. He did pretty great considering the depth of the injuries and as a result of it, he would spend some time kinda hobo-ing around and not checking in with us. We didn’t know where he was for periods of time and found out he’s been down in the mission, or working at the Salvation Army or out picking fruit somewhere. So the song is loosely based on my brother.”

Okay, A Dryer That Doesn’t Dry Is An Oxymoron!!!

So is a believer who doesn’t believe…

A follower who doesn’t follow…

A Christian who doesn’t act like Christ…

A child of God who doesn’t obey God…

My dryer stopped drying the day before we were leaving for vacation…

I washed a load of clothes…

And the dryer did it’s thing of sounding like it was a normal laundry day…

It flipped the clothes around and around and around…

But when I checked, the clothes were as cold as ice…

Problem!!!

It worked, but it didn’t heat up…

Duh, we need the heat to dry clothes…

Now it’s just a large, metal box with a door…

Taking up space in my laundry room…

Useless to me…

For the purpose it was intended!!

So my son had to cart our laundry basket over to a loving neighbor’s house…

So we wouldn’t need to leave the last load I washed…

Sopping wet over vacation!

Mildew, Yuk!

It certainly held us up from leaving on time…

When one of our appliances wasn’t doing its job!

Thank God my neighbor’s dryer did have heat!!

And she was gracious enough to let us use some of it!

Well, when we got back from vacation…

The Sears repairman came…

Opened up the back of the dryer…

Saw immediately what was wrong…

Went to his truck outside to get a part…

And in about 5 minutes…

Inserted a brand new heating element…

In our 12 year-old dryer!!

Voilà!!

Don’t just take up space…

You were intended to advance the Kingdom of God…

So do what you’re called to do!

Be useful in God’s Kingdom!

And don’t just be satisfied with working…

Heat Up!!

With love and compassion for people!

My dryer worked…

It looked good…

But, it wasn’t heating up…

So it wasn’t effective…

It couldn’t serve it’s purpose…

To dry our clothes!

Don’t just be a Christian that looks good and sounds good…

But is ineffective!

James 2:26

“As the body without the spirit is dead,

so faith without deeds is dead.”

Be effective!

Be a Christian with power…

Not just a good picture of a Christian!

Resolve! Ha!

To “Be” more…

For Christ!

Nothing gets dried without the dryer’s heating element…

There’s no heat when a Christian is not led by the Spirit!

Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,”

declares the Lord,

“plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.”

Find God’s plan for your life…

The Holy Spirit is our heating element…

Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you to overflowing…

Overflow!!!

Reveal the Holy Spirit to everyone!

Desire the best gifts from God!

And use them to further God’s Kingdom!

Don’t just sit there…

Heat up!!

Be a fire!

Be on fire for God!

Filled with the Holy Spirit and fire!!

Acts 2:1-4

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven

and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues

as the Spirit enabled them.”

Each person is important…

Each church member…

Each disciple of Christ…

Must receive power…

To do God’s will!

A dryer…

Without the heating element…

Has no power to do the job…

A disciple without God’s Holy Spirit…

Has no power to do the job God wants us to do…

Advance His Kingdom!!

Your freezing cold temperatures are affecting our warmth!!

It’s a cold, windy 46 degrees here in FL right now…

Feels like 40…

The high today was 69…

We all have our winter coats, hats, and gloves on!!

Shut your refrigerator door up there…

You’re lettin’ out the cold!!

And it’s leaking down to us!

I know you don’t feel sorry for us!!

But I’m sending prayers of warmth for all of you!!

God must feel bad that we don’t get any snow…

So He made our clouds look like snow today!!

Such a nice backdrop for our Palm Trees!

And it looks like our Evergreens have a dusting of snowflakes!

He really knows how to put on a show, huh???

The Night Before Christmas…The World Didn’t Know!

Salvation was writing a song…”

Empty manger, perfect stranger, about to be born.

Into darkness, sadness, desperate madness, creation so torn.

We were so lost on earth, no peace, no worth, no way to escape.

In fear, no faith, no hope, no grace, and no light

But that was the night before Christmas.

Warm hay, cold sweat, a mother, not yet.

Praying godspeed the dawn.

She looks to her man, holding her hand. They wonder how long.

And the shepherds, wise men come to find them, and bow to a king.

One star above shining on love, so bright, it lit up the night before Christmas.

And the world didn’t know mercy was meek and so mild.

And the world didn’t know that truth was as pure as a child.

The night before Christmas.

And the world didn’t know, redemption was sweet and so strong.

And the world didn’t know salvation was writing a song.

“Tis The Season!!! Oh, I Need A Silent Night! Badly!!

Luke 2:4-7

“And Joseph also went up from Galilee,

out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David,

which is called Bethlehem;

(because he was of the house and lineage of David.)

To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

And so it was, that, while they were there,

the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son,

and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger;

because there was no room for them in the inn.”

I’ve made the same mistake before
Too many malls, too many stores
December traffic, Christmas rush
It breaks me ’til I push and shove

Children are crying while mothers are trying
To photograph Santa and sleigh
The shopping and buying and standing forever in line
What can I say?

I need a Silent Night, a Holy Night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise
I need a midnight clear, a little peace right here
To end this crazy day with a Silent Night

December comes then disappears
Faster and faster every year
Did my own mother keep this pace
Or was the world a different place?

Where people stayed home wishing for snow
Watching three channels on their TV
Look at us now rushing around
Trying to buy Christmas peace

I need a Silent night, a Holy Night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise

To end this crazy day with a Silent Night

What was it like back there in Bethlehem
With Peace on earth, good will toward men?

“There were shepherds out in the field
Keeping watch over their flock by night
And the glory of the Lord shone around them
And they were so afraid

And the angels said, ‘Fear not, for behold
I bring you Good News of a great joy that shall be for all people
For unto you is born this day, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’

…And His Name shall be called, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace.”

(Luke 2:8-11, Isaiah 9:6)

I need a Silent Night, a Holy Night
To hear an angel voice through the chaos and the noise

To end this crazy day with a Silent Night

“Silent Night”

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

“Silent Night” was written by a Catholic priest, Joseph Mohr, pastor in the Austrian Alps in a little town of Oberndorf.

It was Christmas Eve, 1815, when he meditated on the wonderful story of the birth of Christ and wrote the sweet, simple verses of this song.

The next day he took them to the village schoolmaster, an organist, Franz Gruber, who prayerfully put them to music that fits them so quietly and so well.

And that night they had the choir sing it for the first time with only guitar accompaniment, since the organ had broken down .

Through the years this sweet song drifted out to the world and now millions of people rejoice as they sing.

that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

Jesus, Bring The Rain…Or Whatever Brings You Glory!

Be careful when you pray this prayer!!

Jesus takes it seriously!!

Job 13:15

“Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him;

I will surely defend my ways to His face.”

We must come to the place…

Where we will serve Him no matter what!

-Even if life seems to be going against us…

(True faith rises when it’s tested in the valley!)

-Even without encouragement from others…

(Sometimes you may need to stand alone…and say,

“As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!)

-Even when we don’t understand everything He’s doing…

(Sometimes it’s when you don’t know His plan and purpose

that you build your greatest work for God!)

Do people ask how you can still praise the Lord…

With all that you’ve gone through???

Circumstances can’t possibly change…

Who you are forever in our Lord!

Since your life was changed…

Long before the rainy days…

It’s now forever settled in your mind!

I’ll never turn my back on You…

Oh, Lord!

You’re my only shelter from the storms…

I’ll draw even closer through these times!

So I pray…

“Bring me joy, bring me peace…

Bring the chance to be free…

Bring me anything that brings You glory!”

Though there will be days when this life brings me pain…

If that’s what it takes to praise You…

Jesus Bring the Rain!

I am Yours regardless of the dark clouds that may loom above…

Because You are much greater than my pain!

You made a way for me by suffering Your destiny…

So tell me…

What’s a little rain???

You’re Holy, Holy, Holy!

My Lord God Almighty!!

This prayer means you take what God gives you…

And you use it for His glory!!

It doesn’t matter what you’re going through…

But that you KNOW He’s going through it with you!!

John 4:23

“Yet a time is coming

and has now come

when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth,

for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

God is spirit,

and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

John 6:66-68

Hey, Big Shot!! You’ll Never Be As Big As Jesus…But It’s Okay!!

The Son is the image of the invisible God,

I could move to Hollywood
Get my teeth capped, I know I could
Be a big star on the silver screen
Just like James Dean, I could be a star
I could climb the corporate ladder
Buy, sell, and liquidate
Maybe be just like the Beatles
Melodic, rocking heavyweights
I could learn to sing and dance
If I only had a chance
I could be a big rock star

I could be anything I wanted to
I could be anything, but one thing’s true

Never gonna be as big as Jesus
Never gonna hold the world in my hand
Never gonna be as big as Jesus
Never gonna build a promised land
But that’s alright, it’s okay with me

I could build a tower to Heaven
Get on top and touch the sky

All designed to glorify
I could be about as good
Good as any human could
But that won’t get me by

You’re never gonna be as BIG as Jesus!!

So don’t even try…

You can’t top Him!

You can’t out-give Him!

Don’t try to do His job in your life…

Or be God in someone else’s life…

He’s God…

You’re not!!

It’s OK…

Your job from the Father isn’t as hard as the Son’s!!

Whew!

How liberating…

And such a relief!!

Hey, just say it…

“I’m not as big as Jesus!!”

It’s OK…

I’m not either…

No one is!

We don’t need to be…

And we can be okay with that!

We need a BIG God!

Jesus is your Superhero!!

Luke 4:14-21

“Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit,

and news about Him spread through the whole countryside.

He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised Him.

He went to Nazareth, where He had been brought up,

and on the Sabbath day He went into the synagogue, as was his custom.

He stood up to read,

and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him.

Unrolling it, He found the place where it is written:

^‘The Spirit of the Lord is on Me,
    because He has anointed Me
    to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.^‘

Then He rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down.

The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on Him.

“Look, I am coming soon!

My reward is with Me,

and I will give to each person according to what they have done.

There’s a banquet to enjoy in Heaven!!

Isaiah 25:6-9

“On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare

a feast of rich food for all peoples,

a banquet of aged wine—

the best of meats and the finest of wines.

On this mountain He will destroy

the shroud that enfolds all peoples,

the sheet that covers all nations;

He will swallow up death forever.

The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears

from all faces;

He will remove His people’s disgrace

from all the earth.

The Lord has spoken.

In that day they will say,

‘Surely this is our God;    
we trusted in Him, and He saved us.

This is the Lord, we trusted in Him;   
let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.’”

Matthew 22:1-14

“Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying:

‘The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.

He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come,

but they refused to come.

Then he sent some more servants and said,

‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner:

My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready.

Come to the wedding banquet.’

But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business.

The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them.

The king was enraged.

He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.

Then he said to his servants,

‘The wedding banquet is ready,

but those I invited did not deserve to come.

So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’

So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find,

the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

But when the king came in to see the guests,

he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.

He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’

The man was speechless.

Then the king told the attendants,

‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside,

into the darkness,

where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

For many are invited, but few are chosen.’”

“Surely Your goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

forever.”

Revelation 19:7-9

“Let us rejoice and be glad

and give Him glory!

For the wedding of the Lamb has come,

and His bride has made herself ready.

Fine linen, bright and clean,

was given her to wear.”

(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

Then the angel said to me,

‘Write this:

Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’

And he added,

‘These are the true words of God.’

You’re invited to the banquet!!

Everything is ready!

No excuses!

It will not be cancelled!

There’s still room at the King’s table!

It’s your choice to come!!

Say “Yes!” to God’s Son!

Put on your wedding garment…

Go to the Heavenly banquet!

Celebrate!

Enjoy the wedding feast…

At the Supper of the Lamb!

Amen!
