“On My Knees…” Is An Attitude!

Standard

Humble Yourself!!!

How to survive???
Get on your knees…
Before the Lord…
It changes you…
Don’t know how…
But there’s power…
When I’m on my knees!!
In a crowd…
By myself anywhere…
When there’s a need…
To talk with God…

He is Emmanuel!

Close your eyes…
No darkness there…
Only light!

Power!
Blue skies or at midnight…

When I’m On My Knees!!

Trouble  again???
Breaks down my best defense…
God, I’m looking for You!!

I need rest…
Fear’s is filling my head…

God, I’m longing for You!!

I will find You in the place I’m in!
Find You when I’m at my end!
Find You when there’s nothing left of me to offer You…
Except my brokenness!!

Lift me up…
I’m thirsty…
I’m weak…
I’m lost and searching…
I’m on my knees!!

Sorrow shakes my faith…
Heartache still remains…

My God, I’ll trust you…
‘Cause you are faithful!!

My hope is gone…
Fear is strong…
Pain is real…
Hard to heal!

Faith is shaken…
Heart is broken…
Joy is stolen…
Lift me up!
Never leave me searching…

When I’m on My knees!!

PRAY!!!

In a wide variety of ways:

Sitting, bowing, kneeling, and standing.

1 Chronicles 17:16

“Then King David went in and sat before the LORD,

and he said:

‘Who am I, LORD God,

and what is my family,

that You have brought me this far?'”

Nehemiah 8:6

“Ezra praised the Lord,

the great God;

and all the people lifted their hands and responded,

‘Amen! Amen!’

Then they bowed down

and worshiped the Lord

with their faces to the ground.'”

Daniel 6:10

“Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published,

he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem.

Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed,

giving thanks to his God,

just as he had done before.”

Mark 11:25

“And when you stand praying,

if you hold anything against anyone,

forgive them,

so that your Father in Heaven

may forgive you your sins.”

Pray with the right heart attitude…

Offer silent prayers wherever you are…

God hears our prayers…

Even though they may go completely unnoticed by those around us!

Amen!

Beautiful!!

emeraldogzz's avatarEmerald's Notebook

When it was all you could do
You had cried all you could
And even prayed all
At the point of throwing in the towel
The verse of the bible is remembered
These things cannot be done except through fasting and prayer
Yes! separate yourself unto God
Deny yourself of everything that pleases you
Give it all up to God
But first, confess your sins to Christ and your faults one to another
So shall you be blessed
Let’s leave it all at the altar of prayer today

Soooo beautiful!!

emeraldogzz's avatarEmerald's Notebook

A man looks over at the girl with a long hair, great figure, smiley and pretty face and nice as well

He walks over; tries to start a conversation and then numbers are exchanged,

Soon the girl expects his call daily, although pretending not to,

Soon the constant chat over the phone turns out to a movie at the O2 or the theatre or a concert at the Barbican, the night ends with a good night that lingers while some with a kiss

And this saying comes to place “I love you”. Oh no, you don’t!

Another man sees a girl, probably have attended same university together for a year and have similar lectures, he finally gets to talk to her and doesn’t take long to say these words “I love you”. Again, I say you don’t.

There are others who just speak with you for the first…

The LOVE Letter!

Standard

(I received this e-mail today…author and photographer unknown)

There’s a beautiful soul…

Working in the dead letter department of the Post Office…

who understands…

LOVE….

Our 14-year-old dog, Abbey…

Died last month…

The day after she passed away…

My 4-year-old daughter Meredith…

Was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey…

She asked if we could write a letter to God…

So that when Abbey got to Heaven…

God would recognize her…

I told her that I thought that we could…

So she dictated these words:

Dear God…

Will you please take care of my dog?

Abbey died yesterday…

And is with You in Heaven…

I miss her very much…

I’m happy that you let me have her as my dog…

Even though she got sick…

I hope you will play with her…

She likes to swim and play with balls…

I’m sending a picture of her…

 So when You see her…

You will know that she’s my dog…

I really miss her…

Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope…

With a picture of Abbey and Meredith…

 Addressed it to God/Heaven…

We put our return address on it…

Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope…

Because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter…

 All the way to Heaven…

That afternoon, she dropped it into the letter box at the post office…

A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet…

I told her that I thought He had…

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch…

Addressed, “To Meredith” in an unfamiliar hand…

Meredith opened it…

Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, When a Pet Dies

Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God…

In its opened envelope…

On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey and Meredith…

 And this note:

Dear Meredith…

Abbey arrived safely in Heaven…

Having the picture was a big help…

And I recognized her right away…

Abbey isn’t sick anymore…

Her spirit is here with me…

Just like it stays in your heart…

Abbey loved being your dog…

Since we don’t need our bodies in Heaven…

I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in…

So I’m sending it back to you…

In this little book for you to keep…

And have something to remember Abbey by…

Thank you for the beautiful letter…

And thank your mother for helping you write it…

 And sending it to me…

What a wonderful mother you have…

I picked her especially for you…

I send My blessings every day…

And remember that I love you very much…

By the way, I’m easy to find…

I am wherever there is LOVE!!

Love,

God

I’d love to write a letter myself to God about the loved ones I’m missing!!

Romans 8:37-39

No,

in all these things

we are more than conquerors

through Him who loved us.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life,

neither angels nor demons,

neither the present nor the future,

nor any powers,

neither height nor depth,

nor anything else in all creation,

will be able to separate us

from the love of God

that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

1 John 3:1

See what great love the Father has lavished on us,

that we should be called children of God!

And that is what we are!

The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.”

Father’s Day Devotion – Leadership

Standard

Pastor, I love this post on Leadership!! It’s so important!!

Rob Barkman's avatarSettled In Heaven Blog

SIH STSTA ICONOur families are falling apart due to a lack of Godly leadership. Our political world is crying out for a sincere, honest leader.  Churches are falling into error and modernism because they have no strong leader to show them the right way.  Our world is crying out for genuine leadership.

Before I go any farther, it is important for me to define what I mean by a “genuine leader”….

What makes up a genuine leader for our families, governments and churches?  I believe a genuine leader is someone who will seek to follow the Lord’s will in every decision that he makes; someone who loves those he is responsible to lead; someone who will ALWAYS put his personal interests second to the interest of those he is leading; someone who will attempt to work for our peace while not sacrificing our security in the process; and  finally, someone who seeks…

“It’s A Shame!” Is Different Than “It’s A Sin!”

Standard

“Condemning looks”

When it’s not a sin…

Annoy me!!

And it makes me sad to think…

That people need to do that…

Judge others!

Let’s be clear about the two…

Shame

noun

A painful emotion caused by a strong sense of

guilt, embarrassment, unworthiness, or disgrace.

Capacity for such a feeling:

(Have you no shame?)

One that brings dishonor, disgrace, or condemnation.

A condition of disgrace or dishonor; ignominy.

A great disappointment.

 Shamed, Sham·ing, Shames

tr.v

To cause to feel shame; put to shame.

To bring dishonor or disgrace on.

To disgrace by surpassing.

To force by making ashamed:

(He was shamed into making an apology.)

Put To Shame

Idiom

To fill with shame; disgrace.

To outdo thoroughly; surpass:

(Your productivity has put the rest of us to shame.)

Sin

noun

A transgression of a religious or moral law, especially when deliberate.

Theology

Deliberate disobedience to the known will of God.

A condition of estrangement from God resulting from such disobedience.

Something regarded as being shameful, deplorable, or utterly wrong.

Sinned, Sin·ning, Sins

intr.v.

To violate a religious or moral law.

To commit an offense or violation.

James 4:17

“If anyone, then,

knows the good they ought to do

and doesn’t do it,

it is sin for them.”

Colossians 2:6

“So then,

just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,

continue to live your lives in Him,”

*One on-line answer that I liked to the question:

What is the Biblical difference between sin and shame?

“‘Sin’ is generally used to describe a wrong doing of some sort,

usually ethical, moral, or religious.

It’s a known wrong,

that people in their respective society shouldn’t do.

‘Shame’ is often associated with sin in most cultures,

however it is definitely very different.

Shame is the emotion

associated with either being,

or doing, something that others disapprove of.

-You can feel shame because you were caught doing something wrong, like stealing.

-A child can feel shame when they don’t get picked for the basketball team because they’re not tall enough.

-A person can even feel shame for a wrong they’ve done that no one else knows about.

Shame is often associated with a conscience,

and it has some connections,

but shame is not necessarily an indicator that you have done something wrong.

The easiest way to define shame is:

An emotional sense of disappointment either in oneself or another,

caused by failure to meet some given standard, moral or otherwise.”

Summary:

A sin is an estrangement from God

And shame is a feeling of inadequacy or guilt.

Romans 6:14

For sin shall no longer be your master,

because you are not under the law,

but under grace.”

Ahhh…

Grace!!!

Shame or Sin…

Neither control me any longer!!

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

“But He said to me,

‘My grace is sufficient for you,

for My power is made perfect in weakness.’

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses,

so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

That is why, for Christ’s sake,

I delight in weaknesses,

in insults,

in hardships,

in persecutions,

in difficulties.

For when I am weak,

then I am strong.”

Don’t feel shame for something that honors God…

No matter how weak or foolish it makes you look…

In the eyes of unbelievers.

That would be misplaced shame!

Because the power of Christ…

Is perfected in our weaknesses!

1 Corinthians 15:34

“Come back to your senses as you ought,

and stop sinning;

for there are some who are ignorant of God—

I say this to your shame.”

Only having shame for what dishonors God:

Ignorance of God…

Sin against God…

False beliefs about God…

Equals well-placed shame!

Consider the difference between:

Not dishonoring God vs Dishonoring God

God-Centered vs Self-Centered

This will explains the difference between…

Misplaced, or well-placed, shame!

If you’re dishonoring God…

You’ll feel shame…

No matter how strong,

Or wise,

Or right

You are in the eyes of men!

Sin is always a proper cause for shame…

Sin is behavior that dishonors God.

Solution????

Get rid of the unbelief that feeds shame…

Through belief in God’s Word…

And faith in the promises of God!

Romans 9:33

“As it is written:

‘See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble

and a rock that makes them fall,

and the one who trusts in Him

will never be put to shame.'”

http://christianity.about.com/od/faqhelpdesk/f/romans14issues.htm

Christians…

Our traditions, rules, and regulations…

Are not equal to God’s laws.

We can’t base our moral judgments of others…

On opinions and personal dislikes…

Only on the Word of God!

Our relationship with Christ and His Word

Regulates our convictions!

Romans 14:23

“…everything that does not come from faith is sin.”

Let faith…

And your conscience convict you…

And tell you what to do in these matters.

Romans 14:12-13

“So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another.

Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle

in the way of a brother or sister.”

But how do we decide if something is sin when the Bible is not clear?

According to:

http://christianity.about.com/od/faqhelpdesk/qt/knowsin.htm

“The Bible presents general guidelines to help us judge sin when we are uncertain.

Romans 14 is a great place to start.

Usually when we’re in doubt over sin,

our first tendency is to ask

if something is bad or wrong.

I’d like to suggest thinking in the opposite direction.

Instead, when you’re trying to determine if something is sin,

ask yourself these questions based on Scripture:

  1. Is this a good thing for me and others? Is this beneficial? Will it draw me closer to God? Will it strengthen my faith and my witness? (1 Corinthians 10:23-24)
  2. The next great question to ask is, will this glorify God? Will God bless this thing and use it for his purposes? Will this be pleasing and honoring to God? (1 Corinthians 6:19–20; 1 Corinthians 10:31)
  3. You can also ask, how will this thing affect my family and friends? Although we may have freedom in Christ in an area, we are never to let our freedom cause a weaker brother to stumble. (Romans 14:21; Romans 15:1) In addition, since the Bible teaches us to submit to those in authority over us (parents, a spouse, a teacher), we can ask, do my parents have a problem with this thing? Am I willing to submit this to those in leadership over me?
  4. Finally, in all things, we are to let our conscience before God convict us of what is right and wrong on matters that are not clear in the Bible. We can ask, do I have freedom in Christ and a clear conscience before the Lord to do whatever is in question? Are my own desire’s submitted to the Lord’s will? (Colossians 3:17; Romans 14:23″

Something may be a shame, but not a sin!!

Don’t judge!

And don’t cast that condemning look!!

Hope When Your Plans Get Interrupted

Hope When Your Plans Get Interrupted

Sometimes life doesn’t turn out the way we think.

We face loss, bump up against a wall, wonder what in the world just happened.

It’s part of living here, in this fallen world.

Yet even in those moments we can find hope.

Not the kind that hopes for {because we all know that doesn’t always come true}.

But the kind that hopes in {because that’s what remains true no matter what}.

Hope in a God whose ways are higher than ours.

Hope in a future he promises he’s preparing for us.

Hope that even today’s rain can somehow how become tomorrow’s flowers.

I don’t know how it happens.

All I know is I’ve lived it.

Breathed it.

Clung to it in the night.

As long as we live, there is hope.

Even the darkest night leads to dawn–

to scandalous joy unexpected.

I love this post…

And Holley’s entire Heart to Heart Blog!!

Please check it out!!

Jeremiah 29:11

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’

declares the Lord,

‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

plans to give you hope and a future.'”

Romans 12:12

“Be joyful in hope,

patient in affliction,

faithful in prayer.”

Romans 15:13

“May the God of hope

fill you with all joy and peace

as you trust in Him,

so that you may overflow with hope

by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

C. S. Lewis (On Hoping For Something More)

“Most people,

if they had really learned to look into their own hearts,

would know that they do want,

and want acutely,

something that cannot be had in this world.

There are all sorts of things in this world that offer to give it to you,

but they never quite keep their promise…”

Psalm 119:114

“You are my refuge and my shield;

I have put my hope in Your Word.”

Amen!

The Law Of “Clean-A-Tivity!!”

Standard

If you know me…

Or, you’ve read my blog during this year…

You know I hate cleaning!

Oh, I love a clean house…

And basically work hard to keep it that way…

But when it gets away from me…

I give up

It defeats me!!

So I think there should be a law!

So everyone will know the state of the “clean-a-tivity” of my house!

The Law of “Clean-A-Tivity!”

My house is spotless=Come visit, stay over!!

“I just got done cleaning my house from top to bottom…

Dusting fans, cleaning windows, dusting furniture, mopping floors!

So come on over and stay a few days!!”

My house is clean=Come for lunch or dinner!

“Let’s have party!!

Ha!  Even use the bathrooms!”

My house is messy=Let’s meet somewhere for lunch!

“I do this a lot!!”

My house is dirty=Even I can’t stand it!

“Have company????  No, I really couldn’t!!”

Keeping a house clean is hard work…

Maybe you have help…

I have my son!  Ha!

For days on end, this summer…

I didn’t even get past the mailbox after cleaning…

It was such a mess and I was so far behind…

I just had to keep at it!

Day after day…

I kept thinking of my goal!!!!

I was determined my house would be cleaned BEFORE school started back again…

And BEFORE my summer vacation was completely gone!!

Talking about a clean house…

Makes me think about having a clean heart…

It’s hard to keep either of them that way!

Help me, Lord!!

Psalm 51:10

“Create in me a clean heart,

O God;

and renew a right spirit within me.”

Yes, Jesus, I pray…

Renew my mind and spirit…

Purify my heart and motives…

Sanctify my life for You!!

Is your heart right???

Can Jesus come and stay in your heart???

Or, is He just allowed to visit?

Can He just pop in?

Or do you say, “No way!”

Or, do you need to know when He’s coming???

Another Law of “Clean-A-Tivity!”

My heart is spotless=Jesus lives there!

My heart is clean=Jesus can visit!

My heart is messy=Jesus, let me know when you’re coming, so I can straighten up!

My heart is dirty=Jesus, you wouldn’t want to pop in here, even I can’t stand myself!

Jesus creates in us a clean heart…

Guard your heart!

It takes diligence on our part…

Ask for forgiveness immediately…

Don’t let things get away from you…

And pile up…

To the point where you’ll feel defeated…

And give up!!

Keep your heart clean…

Be aware…

Pray!

Ask Jesus for help!!

It’s much easier to keep a spotless House/Heart clean…

Than constantly picking up in a messy, dirty House/Heart…

Your mind is clear…

Not distracted by chaos and clutter!!

Let Jesus do the heavy cleaning to change your heart…

You’ll then be able to see the smallest speck of dirt…

And deal with it immediately!!

By confessing and receiving forgiveness!!

Proverbs 4:23

“Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.”

Amen!!

Yes, We Can!!

Standard

Running around, round, round, round…

Lost in doubt, doubt, doubt…

How to stay true…

When the whole world’s against you?

But, the Spirit in you and me…

Is the very thing that lets us say…

Yes, We Can!

We raise our hands…

Get up again!

They say we’ll never make it…

Tell ’em, tell ’em, again…

Yes, We Can!

Look around, round, round, round…

People knocked down, down, down…

Move to the power of love…

Take a hand, help somebody stand up!!

On our own…

We’re headed down a dead end road…

God is with us, so we say…

Yes, We Can!

Can’t take it…

Feeling alone?

 Together we can face it!

So here we go…

We’ll let ’em know…

We’ll let the whole world know!

 Yes, We Can!

Not too young…

Not too weak…

We Can Do It!

Yes, We Can!!

 John 14:16-17

“And I will ask the Father,

and He will give you another advocate

to help you and be with you forever—

 the Spirit of truth.

The world cannot accept Him,

because it neither sees Him nor knows Him.

But you know Him,

for He lives with you

and will be in you.”

Amen!!

Dry???

A higher calling…

Makes your life count with every breath!

Live with abandon

Give it all…

Every part of your heart to Jesus…

Place it His  Hands…

Drop everything to follow Him…

Hold on!

Don’t look back!!

Abandon the old…

Embrace the new!!!!

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore,

if anyone is in Christ,

the new creation has come:

The old has gone,

the new is here!

Yes!

I’ll live with abandon, Jesus!!
