Return Policy

Standard

Ever bought anything at Wal-Mart?  Of course you have!  Can you believe their return policy.  Bring in the receipt, return the item, no questions asked.  They don’t seem to care why you want to return it, they just seem so happy to have it back.  You’d think they’d be unhappy, since they sold it to you, and now that they have it back again, they owe you money.  I never mind returning something at Walmart… they never judge you…they just take the item back.

So, I checked their web-site to see if that’s really their Return Policy…here’s what it said:

“Walmart’s Return Policy

Our goal is to satisfy our customers by exchange, refund, or repair, as outlined in this policy.

As an added convenience for customers, Walmart has adjusted its return policy for the holiday gift buying season for items that have a limited return/exchange period (15 days, 30 days, etc.). For these items purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24, the limited return period will begin Dec. 26. This includes items such as TVs, cameras, computers, DVD and music players which can have a 15-30 day return period.

Q:  Is there a time limit on RETURNS?

A:  Generally, we accept returns within 90 days after purchase. There are a few exceptions, including the below examples but not limited to these examples, to the 90-day rule:

  • Computers, camcorders, digital cameras, digital music players, e-tablets, e-readers, portable video players, GPS units, video game hardware, pre-paid cell phones, and post-paid cell phones must be returned within 15 days with a receipt.
  • Airbeds returned within 15 days with a receipt that are not defective and have been opened or used will only be exchanged for an airbed of equal or greater value.
  • Defective airbeds will be exchanged for an airbed of equal or greater value within 90 days of purchase.
  • Swimming pools, lawn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, air conditioners, power washers, compressors, and generators must be returned within 30 days with a receipt to obtain a refund or exchange.
  • Pre-recorded movies, music, and computer/video game software and circuit cartridges must be returned within 90 days in the original and unopened packaging with a receipt to receive a refund or exchange.
    • If the above-referenced items are defective, they can be returned within 90 days with a receipt and the original packaging. Defective units may be exchanged for another unit of the same title.
  • Defective pre-owned (refurbished) video game software can be returned within 90 days with a receipt and the original packaging. Defective units may be exchanged for another unit of a different title if original title is not available.
  • All perennials, tree and shrubs must be returned within 1 year with a receipt to obtain a refund or exchange.

Q:  Do you accept RETURNS without a receipt?

A:  Walmart, for several years, has accepted returns without a receipt, even though many of our competitors require receipts for all returns.  Walmart gives customers the option of a cash refund (if the purchase was under $25), a shopping card for the amount of the purchase (if it was over $25) or an even exchange for the product. Also, as applicable, we follow any manufacturer’s warranties.

Q:  Do you track RETURNS, do you place a limit on the number of returns?

A:  In the event that a customer has returned more than three items without receipts within a 45-day period, the cash register system will automatically flag the transaction, and a customer service manager or member of management must approve the return.  These cash register messages will remain for six months and will disappear if there are no more returns during that time period.”

Okay, now wait a minute…Walmart has a good return policy, but there are stipulations that I didn’t know about before doing  this research…they don’t take back everything, there are exceptions, they don’t take back damaged goods, there’s a time limit, they track how many times you return things, and you generally need a receipt that says you paid the price for the item before they will give you cash back, a gift card, or an exchange.

But, no such stipulations with Jesus!

Isaiah 44:22 KJV says, “I have blotted out as a thick cloud, thy transgressions; and as a cloud, thy sins:  return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.”

Return…we’re redeemed!

Pardon promised, sin forgiven.

He takes back everyone.

No exceptions!

Even damaged goods.

He repairs and restores lives.

There’s no time limit as long as there’s breath.

He doesn’t keep track of wrongs.

He has already paid the price.

He exchanges our stoney heart for a brand new one.

Gives us a “Get Into Heaven” card.

Stop…go listen to “Take You Back” by Jeremy Camp from his album Restored.

What a message…what a return policy…He’ll take us back!  Always!

Do you need a good return policy?  Come to Jesus…

What Are You Looking For In A Church?

Standard

When we moved to FL, as my son was entering 7th grade, what I was looking for in a church was a strong youth ministry.  Our small church in NJ did not have a youth pastor at the time.  I wanted a place where my son could serve the Lord.  I’ve always tried to lead him by example…that we’re saved to serve the Lord.  It was top on my list!!

We also knew how important it would be for us to be a hop-skip-and a-jump from all our church activities and friends in the Lord!!  After the first Sunday and Wednesday night, we knew where the Lord wanted us!  We met the youth pastor’s wife as soon as we walked in the front door, and now that I know her and the youth pastor so well, I know why the first thing she said when she saw my son was, “Welcome!  I’m the youth pastor’s wife!”  They have such a heart for teens…it’s like radar!  I feel the Lord told her to sit there and wait for us to come in!!

Then we walked up to Kid’s Church, and the moment we met the children’s pastor, saw the beautifully decorated room, and met all the workers…we were hooked!  I remember saying to her, “If you ever need any help here, let me know!”  It was our first day, but, we needed no time to get used to everyone and everything…there was no holding back, we loved it!  This was what we had been praying for, and the Lord showed me He would “part the seas” of hassles and obstacles along the way to find it–our new home church!!  Here was where we could bloom where He planted us!!

The youth and children’s pastors are still such a blessing to us, my son is still in Kids Church…now as a teacher.  He still goes to youth group…now as a leader.  I would need pages to express the impact that their love of Christ, and their love of people has meant to us!  Both, such powerful ministries.

Then, we came back on Wednesday night, and met the leaders in Royal Rangers!  Again, fun, welcoming, and filled with the Spirit of God.  The Lord definitely led us here!!

So pastors, I want to say, “THANK YOU!!”  to you for the years before we came, the years when you poured God’s love and Spirit into this congregation, when you laughed with them and cried with them.  When you constantly prayed to Our God about them and their concerns.  When you taught them that the Joy of the Lord could be theirs, and that loving and serving God is not drudgery…it’s Joyous!!  When you taught them to reach out to people, as soon as they walk in the door of our church.  Or, when they meet them at school, work, or in the marketplace.  And to reach around the world with their giving.

Thank you for being steadfast in the Lord, (I admit, sometimes I don’t know how you do it!).  I know God holds you up because of your strong faith and reliance on Him.  You’ve taught us these lessons by your words, and by your lifestyle…a life of Praise!  I’m thankful that the Lord gave us pastors that are willing to be accountable for our spiritual well-being.  I know you’re both depending on God and His wisdom in everything you do, and in every decision you make for our church!!

Thank you for sharing the visions and dreams the Lord speaks into your hearts.  We will believe and agree with you, that we will see them come to pass!  We’re blessed to be placed here by God!  We love you and honor you…In Jesus Name!!

Praise God!  This is just what I was looking for in a church!

Are You A Modern Day Moses?

Standard

Of all the personalities who engaged in prayer to the Lord in the Old Testament, it is doubtful that any can compare to Moses. In terms of prayer and communication with God, it was virtually his sole occupation.  Is it ours?

1.  RESPONDING TO GOD’S CALL:

God speaks, “Moses! Moses!”

Moses responds, “Here I am.”

  Today:  God speaks our name.

We answer,  “Lord, are you talking to me?”

2.  GOD GIVES A COMMAND:

God speaks, “Do not come any closer.”

Moses, obeys.

Today: God says, “Go back to church!”

We say, “We’re too busy!

3.  MOSES QUESTIONS:

Moses questions, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’  Then what shall I tell them?”

God answers, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites:  ‘I AM sent me to you! ‘”

Today:  We question, “How can we fit God into our already crowded, overwhelmed life?”

God answers, “I AM GOD, I’ll work it out!!”

4.  MOSES HAS CONCERNS:

Moses confesses, “I am not able to contend with the unbelief of the people and I am not eloquent.”

God answers, “I AM.”

Today:  We confess, “Lord, I am not able to do this.”

God answers, “I AM.”

5.  TIMING OF DIVINE INTERVENTION:

Moses doesn’t understand, “Lord, why have you brought trouble upon this people?”

God answers, “Now you will see what I will do … and then you will know that I am the Lord your God … ”

Today:  I don’t understand, “Lord, you’re asking me to lead Vacation Bible School?  I can’t do that!”

God answers, “Say yes to me, and you will see what I will do … and then you will know that I am the Lord your God … ”

6.  PRAYER-THEN ACTION:

God speaks, “Move on!”

Moses, steps out in faith.

Today:  God speaks, “Get off the fence for good!  Make a commitment!  Serve only Me!”

Will we step out in faith?

7.  CONTINUED DEPENDENCE ON GOD:

Moses cried to the Lord, “What am I to do with these people?”

God answers Moses because he drew near to God, and chose to pray.

God was ready to give up on Israel, “Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them.  Then I will make you into a great nation.

“Moses is totally unselfish and becomes a true advocate and intercessor to influence the final outcome, and the Lord relented.

Today:  We cry out to the Lord, “It’s hard to serve you when others around us don’t comprehend the spiritual things of God!”

God answers us because we drew near to God, and chose to pray.

God is ready to turn every soul 180 degrees around, to draw them closer, and turn stony hearts to flesh.

We must be totally unselfish, obey the vision given to reposition ourselves to become a true advocate and intercessor to influence the final outcome of every soul.

9.  GOD MUST GO WITH US:

God speaks, “I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.”

Moses answers, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here … ”

Today:  God speaks, “I will relocate you and your family.”

We must answer, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us there.  Our heart’s desire is that we can serve you there!”

10.  PERSONAL REVELATION FOR THE INTERCESSOR:

Moses makes a bold plea, “Now show me your glory.”

God answers, “Yes Moses .. .I will enlarge your vision and your faith.”

Today:  We make a bold plea, “Lord, I have always wanted to write (sing, dance, teach, play an instrument, etc.).  Give me a ministry for you with my passion!  Give me your blessings!”

God answers, “Yes, I will enlarge your vision and your faith and increase your territory of influence for Me and the spreading of My Gospel.”

Prayer and communication with God allowed Moses to desire to see God’s glory…and it will do the same for us today!

Words From My Heart

Standard

I’m going to write to you from my heart…

As if you’re my best friend…

Life isn’t perfect.

Kids aren’t perfect.

Families can be dysfunctional.

Even a happy marriage can have arguments brewing.

But I have found the One who is perfect.

He controls my heart and my life.

With Him, I have peace, joy, love…which the world could never give me.

And can never take away!

He blesses me because He’s looking to bless those who believe in Him.

Not just that He existed, but that He exists today, & wants to dwell in our hearts.

I can write to you from my heart because He fills my heart to overflowing with His love…

Then, I can share His love with you.

It’s  really very simple…this Gospel…

We love God…because He first loved us.

He gave his Only Begotten Son for us…

That we may have abundant life…

Why make it complicated?

It’s not!

He says, “Come to Me…my yoke is easy.”

I can’t tell anyone how to solve all problems…

But I know the One who can…

Call out to Jesus…

You’ll find Him ready, willing, and able to meet all your needs…

“Help me, Jesus,” is a strong prayer that touches His heart…

It connects your heart to His…

Then, obey His voice…

Follow His direction…

Listen for His answer…

His Holy Spirit will direct you.

If we looked to each other, we would ultimately fail and disappoint.

Humans are frail…

He is MIGHTY!

Believe!

Trust!

He will never leave us or forsake us.

Nothing is about us, or our credentials.

It is always about Jesus.

What He has already done for us at the Cross.

What He wants to do for us today, if we’ll let Him.

He knocks, but we must open the door.

It’s that easy!

Accept His help today!

He’s knocking…

You must answer…by opening the door to your heart…

“Yes, Lord Jesus”…is the answer to all your problems…forever…here on earth and through eternity…

I’ll be praying for you…

“Mr. Fix-it,” “Mr. Foodtown,” Mr. Fill Up”

Standard

Image
I’m a very blessed lady!!

My husband is “Mr. Fix-it”.

He uses superglue, scotch tape, duct tape, or whatever it takes to fix a broken item. He’s a “morning person” (while I most definitely am not!) and if I leave a note attached to the item on the kitchen counter, by the time I get up, it’s fixed as good as new!!

He really spoils me.

He’s also “Mr. FoodTown.”

Even though I’m a retired Home Economics Teacher, and I’ve taught kids all about where our food comes from…I believe food comes from the pantry.  Because while I’m sleeping, my husband (the early
riser!) does the grocery shopping. All it takes is a note on the grocery list for food to materialize in the pantry.

In addition, he can turn the groceries into delicious meals.

Oh, how he spoils me.

Plus “Mr. Fill-Up” keeps my car filled up with gas. Before I even realize I need gas, my tank is filled, what a delightful experience…it’s like a miracle!!

I depend on my husband in his areas of expertise.  He deserves a lot of praise!

And I depend on my Lord for my spiritual needs, because He is the expert with my life.

I come to Him with thanksgiving for who He is and what He means in my life.

For His mercy and compassion.

I have found that God can fix all my problems.

He can provide for all my needs.

He can fill me with His Spirit.  And He deserves all my praise.

He never seems too busy to care for me.  He gets up early and he stays up late.

He will never leave me or forsake me.

He’s the One to depend on.

Jesus is trustworthy and faithful.

We can depend on it.

God gave me my husband who spoils me.

And His Son who spoils me even more.

With You, Lord, the broken pieces of my life are mended and restored.

My food pantry is always full.

You prepared a banquet table for me.

I never hunger or thirst.

All my needs are met, and my Spirit is filled to overflowing.

Use me to show others that they can be spoiled, also, by a Father who loves us, and wants to bless us abundantly.

Give Me A Sign

Standard

I love being a Christian.

I love serving the Lord.

I love to fellowship with other Christians.

I love treating all people the way Christ would, with compassion, love, and understanding.

I love meeting other Christians…wherever I go.  I want to know if everyone I meet is a Christian.  Not to judge anyone, or guess.

I just want a universal symbol, a sign, a word that we can all agree on.  I don’t want to know what denomination  they belong to,
whether they haven’t been in a church for a while, or whether their grandmother was a believer.

I just want to know point blank…are they a follower of Christ.

Do they know Jesus personally?

Is He Savior of their soul, and Lord of their life?

Are they ready for eternity?  For Heaven?

Wouldn’t it be an awesome sight to see millions of symbols, and automatically know those people know what Jesus did for them when He died on the Cross.

No sign?  Then love them, and pray for Holy Spirit to draw them, and change their hearts.

When their free will prevents them from believing in Jesus Christ, and going to Heaven, respect their free choice.

Only God can know a heart.

But, just let me tell you this…it’s great to be a Christian!

It doesn’t stop me from doing what I want, because what I want is for the Lord to do His will in my life.  My desires are His desires.  I want my thoughts to be His thoughts.  I want His Plan for my life.   I’m not deprive, I’m lifted from my burdens.

Those who don’t know Jesus, have chosen to carry their own burdens, and I’m sorry, because I remember how heavy they were
for me.

I’m saved from sins that weigh me down. They’ve chosen not to seek forgiveness, so they feel guilty, and the Bible tells us they are guilty.  So was I before I was reborn with God’s Holy Spirit.

I trust Almighty God…the God of the impossible.

Who do they trust?

I follow Jesus, my Physician, my Shepherd, my Redeemer.

Who do they follow?

I believe in the Holy Spirit, my Comforter, my Counselor.

Who do they believe in?

Why be empty, lonely, forgotten, and beaten-down?

He is the lifter of our head, and the lover of our soul.

Why not be forgiven, loved, and cherished?

Why would I want them to carry all those heavy burdens, when I know how they can lay them down?

Why should I let them perish, when I know Jesus can rescue them?

It’s about a change…a change of heart, a change of mind, a change of
attitude, a change of direction.

Allowing  Him to change the direction of our life.

Look up to Jesus, and into eternity.  Humans were made to serve God.

Choose to serve other things and we’ll never feel satisfied.

Choose Jesus!

It’s our choice,  our free will.

Choose to serve Jesus, then give me a sign.

The sign is love.

First Love

Standard

My husband and I love Siberian Huskies!

We’re melted by their distinctive faces, their jovial dispositions, their fluffy, up-right, wagging tails, and their regal walk.  They’re always happy to see you, and they’ll show you their friendliness by licking your face  all over.

When our third Siberian Husky was born, we carried photos, we showed a video of him romping with the other puppies, we invited people over to see him, we brought him with us to our friends’ houses, we told everyone about his every move, trick, bark, howl, and eating habits.

We moved to Florida, and after awhile, our dear Siberian died.  There was a time of mourning, we had our memories, and our new friends were sympathetic, but they didn’t know how close we were to our dog.  We got distracted by our move and hadn’t shared with them all the stories, photos, or videos of his birth and his growing-up years, as we had back in NJ.

In our walk with the Lord, do we still think constantly of Him, love Him, talk about Him, share stories about His goodness, share our testimonies of His faithfulness?

Is He still our first love?

Do we invite our friends to know Him as we do?

When we move to a new situation do we bring Him with us?

Do our friends and family know how close we are to our Lord?

Or are we distracted?

When we got our puppy, we weren’t satisfied for friends and family to simply know we had a dog, we wanted them to see, feel, sense, touch, hear everything for themselves, so they would love our dog as much as we did.  We felt it wasn’t enough to just know about him, but we wanted everyone to know him personally.

That’s how it is with Jesus.  It’s good that you know who He is, but I want you to know Him like I know Him…personally.

When our beloved dog died we replayed every fond memory of his life, and also every heart-wrenching moment of his death.

Jesus lived and died to prepare a place for you in Heaven, because you have no other way to get there yourself.

We as Christians should be able to make you see, and feel, the joy and peace we have because of Jesus.

We should share with you the memories of His life.

You should feel the piercing nails in his hands and the anguish of His death.

We should explain that He did that for you. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”

Have I introduced you to my first love…Jesus?

Empty

Standard

Image
I don’t know who you are, where you are, where you’ve been, or what you’re doing, but I do know we all have an empty hole only Jesus can fill.

You may be a professional who’s desperate, a teacher who’s overwhelmed, or a parent who’s exhausted.

You may be homeless and in despair, you may be wealthy, but life is futile.

It doesn’t matter, without Jesus, you’re a person running on empty.

Why would God fill the empty hole in me and others, but not in you?

Are we better than you, more educated, more perfect?

No. The Bible says, “All have sinned…”

It has nothing to do with us, it has everything to do with Him.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son…”

Jesus died to save us from the empty hole within us, and the empty hole of an eternity in Hell separated from Him.

Let Him fill you with His Holy Spirit.

Nothing else can fill the spot that’s reserved for Him.

Sin tries to fill it up, but you’re still left empty.

Empty and guilty.

Only you can ask for the empty hole to be filled with what will truly satisfies.

You can try other things: Money, love relationships, fast cars, parties, drugs, alcohol, etc.

You’re just wasting time, and losing time that could be spent in JOY, PEACE, and LOVE.

Better than what you now feel: despair, overwhelmed, desperate, and discouraged.

How do I know?  I’ve been there.

Even with all you desire from this world, you can feel unsatisfied.  We all need Jesus.

Here’s what to do: Bow down to Jesus. Call out to Him.  Look up to God.

He’ll hear your sincere cry for help, even if you simply breathe a whisper “Help me!”

Jesus wants to live in your heart and fill you with His Holy Spirit.

To dwell in you.  For you to abide in Him.

It’s a gift.  It’s yours for the asking.  You don’t need to beg.

God’s listening.

Read His Word…the Bible.

Talk to any Christian…a strong believer in the full Gospel…a follower of Christ.  I know you know who they are.

I dare you!  Go find one.  Question them.  Ask them the important questions you really want to know about God.

I’m praying for every non-believer to have a Christian believer near them. Share your doubts.

Discuss God’s word with the ones you know have God’s Joy in their lives.  In every circumstance, even when the circumstance is a difficult one.

Don’t let anyone, or anything, stand in your way, or cause you to think God’s not real.  He is!

Or, that what Jesus did for others..He can’t do for you.  He can!

No matter who you are, where you are, where you’ve been, or what you’ve done, Jesus wants to be your Savior and the Lord of your life.

Be sincere.  Be sorry.  Be free.

Ask the Lord to help you allow His Holy Spirit to lead you into all Truth.  Not the world’s truth, but God’s Truth..

Ask that Christian friend of yours more questians. Dive into your Bible.

A good place to start is the Book of John in the New Testament, “In the beginning was the Word…and the Word became flesh.”  Pray for understanding while reading.

Find a Bible -believing church, go there, fellowship with other Christians, feed on the Word.

Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you, and show you a ministry you can do to glorify His Name.

Keep praying.  Ask the Holy Spirit to fill the empty hole, and constantly keep it filled to overflowing.  To be able to help others, and lead them to Christ.

So they will no longer be running on empty either!

You may think you’re really ok, you’re not on drugs, you’re not suicidal, you’re not planning on killing anyone.

And in the eyes of the world you may be ok.

But in God’s eyes “…all are as filthy rags…”

If you don’t know Jesus personally (which means you alone, not what your family or friends believe, just
you), you’re not ok.

It’s not enough. Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father but through Me…”

Only complete trust in Jesus and what He’s already done for us at the Cross will give us eternal life in Heaven.  With equal satisfaction and fullfillment for us here on earth.

Let Him take you from wherever you are to wherever He wants you to be.

He’ll change you, fill the empty hole inside you.

And you’ll be whole.

Living In The Stable

Standard

Image

“But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means, least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of My people Israel.”  Matthew 2:6

From Pastor Ron Gray’s Christmas Newsletter:  “One of the great truths concerning Christmas is that Christ came to us.  So many times we tend to think that we came to Him.  It was the love of God for His creation that caused Him to send His Son. He came to redeem us. He came to bring us abundant life. He came to be our Savior, Lord, & King. Today…Jesus comes and brings light, hope, & a future…I believe that God will come to you today in the middle of whatever you are going through.  You may think He is not interested, but I believe He cares, & knows what you are dealing with.  Jesus is making Himself real to you today. Give Him an opportunity to work. Stop for just a moment and talk to Him.  He has come to you to bring you joy.  I trust Him today to work a miracle in your life.”

Part of the glorious Christmas Story involves living in the stable!  So how do we go from “Living in the Stable” to “Sitting in the Heavenly Throne Room with Christ?”   How do we get from the hardship of the stable to the glory of the throne?  We trust & wait!

What do we do when there’s no room in the Inn?  We give birth in a stable!

(My definition of a stable) A Stable is a place we find ourselves physically, emotionally, or spiritually, where we don’t want to be!”  Mary & Joseph wanted to be back in their home in Nazareth in Galilee, or at least in the Inn in Bethlehem, especially when Mary was ready to give birth!!  But, they found themselves in the stable!

It’s a mistake to label someone in a “stable” situation as:  A transient, a fugitive, a drifter, an orphan, etc.  Often a gradual process of circumstances got us there.  I know my All-Powerful God could have delivered Jesus, Mary, & Joseph out of the stable, kept them in Nazareth in Galilee, and not sent them to Bethlehem in Judea, but there was a purpose & a prophecy that had to be fulfilled!

What is the prophecy concerning us & our families?  What is our promise from God that needs to be fulfilled because we’re in a stable right now?

Are we, like Jesus, headed for the throne room?  We are, if we know Christ!  How did baby Jesus get from the stable to the throne?  Through suffering & trials…’til He went back to the Father.  True for us, too!  Suffering & trials, ‘til we return to our Father in Heaven.  But, we can bless the Lord through our trials…Jesus did.

How long did Jesus, Mary, & Joseph stay in the stable?  One day, two days?  A while!

What were the conditions?  Stables are smelly, loud with animal sounds, uncomfortable, lacking the simplest comforts, lacking family support, & it’s a lifestyle that is at the mercy of strangers.  Have we ever found ourselves in a stable?

Was there stress?  Mary glorified God, even after submitting to a pregnancy she could never explain, months of village criticism, & all God’s requirements for bearing the Son of God.   Our belief & obedience is what magnifies God!  From The Fruit Of The Spirit Bible, we read:  “It is always the heaviness of the burden that teaches us the best song.”

Mary was faithful…which is defined as, “always doing what God tells us to do, exactly when He tells us to do it!”  Amen!!

Patience never argues with God, and it has a habit of praising God while it waits for miracles to take place.  There’s never any reason to hurry God!  “May it be to me as God has said!”  Mary said, and then she sang as she waited.

Who was there with them in the stable?  No family.  But God knew where they were.  And He blessed Mary & Joseph with the birth of their son, Jesus..in the stable! And support (&worship) came to the stable from everywhere…  Even Shepherds need a Savior!

He knows where we are, too, even if we’re in a stable.  And, He will bless us with birth, too!  Perhaps, the birth of a job, the birth of a house, the birth of a dream, the birth of a vision, and the birth of a purpose.

What was the result of Mary & Joseph’s stable experience?

Christmas!  Jesus’ birth in a stable brought joy, brought faith, brought vision, & brought a promise for us.  It got the attention of angels, kings, magi, & shepherds.

In our stable experience, we can’t discount the enemy at work, but don’t give him any glory either!  Satan’s a liar!  We shouldn’t ask, “Why are we here in this stable, Lord??”  We need to ask, “What are You trying to birth in us, Lord, right here in this stable?”

We must know that God plans to take us from the stable to the throne, just as He did for His son, Jesus.  But, we’ve got to let Him!  Hope is here!  We’re children of God!  And, this is the season when God reminds us of His Love.  Christmas is for those of us in the stable…So God can show us that His purpose is to bring us out of the stable to His throne!

We’ve got to go to God, & want everything He wants for us!! We need to be faithful to God’s favor & guidance, even in the stable of small beginnings to get to the glorious ending…the throne!!

Even if we’re in a “stable” situation right now, we must accept the gift of Jesus…because even in the stable, God’s right there with us!!  His Son was born there!

And, once we’re out of the stable, don’t look back; just look up to where the throne is!  Amen!!

“And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself RESTORE you & make you strong, firm, & steadfast.”  I Peter 5:10

You can’t have Christmas without Christ!  Christ is the heart of Christmas!  Merry Christmas & God’s Abundant Peace to all of you!

Corrupt Generation

Standard

“With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourself from this corrupt generation.’  Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.”  Acts 2:40 & 41 NIV

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of time, because the days are evil.”  Ephesians 5:15,16  “Take a moment to assess your priorities.  Just like a car needs its wheels aligned on a regular basis in order to drive properly, so might we.”  (“The Daily Verse” by Kat Davis)

If you’re a germophobic…close your ears!  If you have 20/20 vision, you’re going to get grossed out!!  This is an ugly story about my shower!  I wear contacts to see, & glasses, when I take my contacts out at night!  So, normally when I’m in my shower…I can’t see!  Everything looks a little blurry to me, so, I happily think everything’s clean!  And, I ignore it!  On rare occasions when I need to get ready, & my contacts are already in…I’m shocked beyond all reason how dirty, disgusting, & full of gunk my shower floor & walls are!  My dog’s cage is in the bathroom, & furry dog hair adds to the gunk…I have to wear shower shoes to protect my feet, but really, the gunk just needs to be cleaned up & washed away…there’s no way to just cover it up, or tip-toe around it!

Why is it so dirty???  It’s not that I love dirty, disgusting gunk…quite the opposite, I hate it!  But, normally, I just can’t see it!  I love my shower, but not the gunk!  When you can’t see gunk, it’s easy to ignore it!

When I finally do see it, what do I do about it?  I call out to my son…he’s my dirty shower scrubber!!  He does a great job!  He uses Tilex to scrub the grout lines on the floor & walls, ‘til it shines!  Then he wipes away the residue with clean, fresh water!  He’s a savior!  He saved me from my dirty, disgusting shower!  Praise God for hard working teens!  Amen!  Want him to help you, too??  Once he saves you from your dirty shower, you’ll want to tell others about him!

Well, our Spiritual eyes are the same way…if something’s corrupt, dirty, & evil…without our Spiritual eyes open, we can’t see it!  It’s not that we love dirty, disgusting sin…but if our Spiritual eyes are closed, it’s just that we can’t see it clearly!  We may love our life, but not the dirty, disgusting sin that plagues us.  This corrupt generation can’t see it…they just don’t know.  (I just heard a sermon the other night preached by a former Hindu, who had never heard the name of Jesus!  How awed he was to realize that all his gods could never do the miracles that Jesus did when he walked the Earth!  Good to see it from that perspective once in a while, right?)  Some people don’t want to live in “gunk,” they just haven’t seen Jesus yet…their eyes are blind.  But we, who are “Born Again” with the new Spiritual eyes God gave us, can see!  We must see!  You need to help them see…point them to Jesus.  Don’t try to cover up, or fix their mess…let Jesus wash it clean!!  He’s their Savior!  He cleaned you up…He can clean them up, too!  Then, they can see clearly & point someone else to Jesus.  Once Jesus saves you from sin, you want to tell others, too!

I was reading Bill Wilson’s “Transformation Station” Lesson Plans that our children’s pastor gave us for our new “Wednesdays Nights at the Warehouse” outreach to our neighborhood kids!!  He founded Metro Ministries in Brooklyn, NY and runs the largest Sunday School in the world.  Pastor Wilson was explaining changes that have taken place in our kids’ conduct in the last 60 years, from 1951 to now.  Everything escalated since 1963:  Births to unwed mothers, sexually transmitted diseases, and the divorce rate, but…SAT scores have declined!  Wow!  He says, “This is the first time in the history of America that a generation of students is graduating knowing less than their parents did!!!!”  Oh, my!

I was listening to Nichole Nordeman’s song “I Am” and someone commented about the words of the song, The writer said, “I’m about to turn 16, and a few days ago, I decided to let Jesus into my life because ‘life is so mean.’”  Wow!  I’ve heard people say “life is hard,” “life is difficult,” or “life is short,” but “mean”???  Life IS really mean in this corrupt generation.

So what happened in 1963???  Pastor Wilson says, “The government of the United States officially removed God from the public school system.  They took mandatory prayer out of our schools-and the rest is history.  We now have a generation of kids who have no Judeo-Christian background taught to them.  Our whole society is without the foundation of the Word of God.  The parents of these kids do not teach them that foundation.  Statistics show that:  Eighty percent of people, who do not accept Christ Jesus by the age of 18, never will!”

Think about that!  Kids at school see it all the time…many in this corrupt generation are clueless when it comes to the things of God!  Pastor Wilson says, “We must help today’s kids to know, trust, & love God.  The church cannot be just another influence for kids.  We have to get to the place where the church is the major influence.  It’s a difference between (Spiritual) life & death!”  At Sidewalk Sunday School, he believes, “It’s easier to build a child than repair an adult!”  Amen!  I agree!

We can’t afford to walk around bind, or blindfolded!  Souls are at risk of going to hell without Jesus!  Are we too lazy to put on our Spiritual glasses?? How can we participate, or lead, if we’re blind?  Who can we help?  Don’t just ignore it!  See sin, & turn from it!

Matthew 25:40 “And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'”  ”Your service toward those in need is your service unto God Himself.  Don’t endeavor to preach the Gospel; be the Gospel!  (“The Daily Verse” by Kat Davis)

What should we do?  Call out to Jesus…He’s our “Clean-Up The Corrupt Generation Scrubber.”  He does a fantastic job…To those who repent…He uses His blood to wash away all our sins & stains, ‘til we shine!

Awhile ago, Joel Osteen (a leading Pastor in Texas) & his wife Victoria, were guests on CNN’s Piers Morgan‘s Show.  It was interesting to me, that Piers Morgan mentioned Joel’s “squeaky-clean” reputation…like it was somehow strange, or not normal.  Wow, that goes to show what this corrupt generation is really used to…corruption, evil, & darkness everywhere…that “squeaky-clean” is so foreign to them!!  He didn’t understand, of course, that when we have Jesus open our Spiritual eyes, we don’t desire the foul things of this world.  If we can’t take Jesus with us, we don’t go there!

I Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be deceived:  Bad company ruins good morals.”  “It is wise to take regular assessment of the people with whom you choose to spend the majority of your time.  Are they pointing you toward the ways of God and life and choices that edify you?  If not, seriously consider being more intentional about surrounding yourself with those who are going to be a part of cheering you onward in your journey toward freedom and the fulfillment of your calling.” (“The Daily Verse” by Kat Davis)

The teens, I work with are great.  I see all of them as clean, pure, & fresh examples of teens hungry for more of God; teens who have learned to stay close to Jesus, so they can serve Him!  Their parents & churches have realized that they’re like “sponges,” & they’ve poured into them Spiritual truths, & not filth!  I thank them for that!  When they’re with friends, they can follow that example.  Especially when they’re parents, too, in the future!

Always ask, “What do people see that’s different about me?  Do they see Christ???

Turn your back on sin!  What exactly does that mean to you?  Watch carefully what you say, what you see, what you hear, what you do!  Stay close to the heart of Jesus!!

Romans 8:7 “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.”  “Having our minds set on material things could be part of our inherent human resistance to intimacy with God.  Let us be reminded, first and foremost, to set our minds on the things of the Spirit.  From that will come blessings more valuable than anything for which our flesh can long.”  (“The Daily Verse” by Kat Davis)

There’s a popular phrase you’ve all heard…”What Would Jesus Do?”  And now, there’s a TV show, I like, called, “What Would You Do?”  Boy, does that live out the love of Christ?  It shows people who will stand up for right, & speak out against the wrong (& it also shows people who won’t!).  Love the people, but hate the sin!  When a life is a mess…only God can clean it up, & Jesus’ blood will wash away the gunk!  Point everyone to Jesus…all those that have messy lives…They need to see Jesus.  Whatever the question…Jesus is always the answer!

Colossians 3:12 “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience…”  “It’s not always easy to display a compassionate heart, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.  Then again, we’re not called to have it easy, we’re called to love God & love each other.  It might not be the inclination your emotions drive you toward, but you have the choice & the ability to act like one of God’s chosen ones.  Do that, and be a vessel for others experiencing the kind of unconditional love that God shows you.”   (“The Daily Verse” by Kat Davis)

He takes a messy life, scrubs it clean, & washes away all the residue.  Their attitudes & situations change…’til the life is new & “squeaky-clean!”  Jesus can do that!  Pray for your friends…I know you can see that Jesus needs to clean up some messes, some gunk in their lives!  Put on your Spiritual glasses to see what Jesus sees…love them…share God’s love, & let Him wash their dirt down the drain, like He did for you.

I John 2:5B, 6 “By this we may know that we are in Him:  whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way he walked.”  “Actions speak louder than words.  Take an assessment of your behavior today and intentionally consider your response.  If your talk says more about Christ than your walk, make an adjustment so that you can be a more effective witness of Him, who lives in you.”  (“The Daily Verse” by Kat Davis)

Close your eyes for a moment!  Think about your life…your habits, your likes, your dislikes.  You don’t need to beg God to take over your mind & heart…just DECIDE to give all you are to Him.  If He’s speaking to you about something…obey!  It might be giving up something that displeases Him, or it might be adding something that would please Him!  The blessings are always in obeying God.  Then you’ll be in a position to point others to Jesus!

John 13:5 “Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with a towel that was wrapped around him.”  “Think of the people in your life who follow you, look up to you, and hang on to your every word.  Do you treat them like they are beneath you, or do you serve them?  Do you wash their feet, as Jesus did?  You can learn & teach just as much by following as you can by leading.  Give it a try today.  (“The Daily Verse” by Kat Davis)

Save yourself from this corrupt generation by having your Spiritual eyes open & focused on Jesus!
