TANGLED THREADS? Call the expert!

Standard

I love this…”doing your best is sending for God!!” Great post!

meetingintheclouds's avatarMEETING IN THE CLOUDS

Tangled threadsThe factory had complicated machinery for making textiles, so the workers were given a very clear instruction: “If your threads get tangled, stop and send for the foreman”   One of the workers, a woman who was dedicated to her job, and always worked hard, got her threads tangled one day and tried to disentangle them herself, rather than bothering the foreman.  She succeeded only in making them more tangled.

A Thanksgiving Day Devotion

Standard

Pastor Rob, Thank you for so clearly explaining our Christian views and practices…as we come into this season of harvest and Thanksgiving to our God…from whom all blessings flow! Amen! Great post!

Rob Barkman's avatarSettled In Heaven Blog

SIH STSTA ICONIt is commonly believed that the first Thanksgiving celebration took place in 1621.  This feast was attended by both Pilgrims and Indians who joined together to thank God for their bountiful harvest of the previous year.  This celebration was continued by the first American colonies, and later by the United States, as a time of thanksgiving for the blessings that God had bestowed upon the American people.

The official Thanksgiving Day holiday was started in 1863 when Abraham Lincoln, at the end of the Civil War, asked Americans to set aside the last Thursday of November as a day of thanksgiving to God for the blessings He had shown to America (one of which was an end to the Civil War).

In 1939 FDR moved the holiday to the prior week.  He did this to help businesses by giving them a longer holiday shopping period.  Finally, in 1941 the fourth…

Christians and Anger

Awesome message!!

Anger

Most Christians believe that it is definitely wrong ever to outwardly express anger
in any form. And yet anger is an emotion and God created us as emotional beings.
This leads to a very important question, “Is it always wrong and a sin to
be anger?” To answer this, one must know the nature of anger as defined in
the Bible, how it affects us and others, what the Bible says about expressing
it, and how to handle it.

I. What is Anger?

Anger is a strong emotion of displeasure. The New Testament uses three words
for anger?

1. Thumas — turbulent commotion, boiling agitation of feelings, blazing up,
passion, anger boiling up and subsiding, an outburst from inward indignation
(Eph. 4:31)

2. Parorgismos– (wrath) anger that has irritation, exasperation, embitterment
(Eph. 4:26b, 6:4)

3, Orge– An abiding and settled habit of the mind aroused under certain
conditions; against…

Get Out of Your Way

This is a great post!!

lessonsbyheart's avatarLessons by Heart

{The next few posts are messages I received from the Lord over the weekend. Because they were from Him to me, I wrote them in the first person. I share them with you in case you needed the same talk!}

I have a purpose in mind for you, I have a goal, a position just for you.

Search your heart for that dream I planted in you before you were born. Do you even remember what it was? Or have your critics and time buried it?

Know this: no one can prevent you from fulfilling my purpose for your life –

except you.

Hagar couldn’t.

Joseph’s ten brothers couldn’t

Potiphar’s wife couldn’t.

Saul couldn’t.

The Pharisees couldn’t.

Pilate couldn’t.

Nero couldn’t.

DEATH COULDN’T!

(Have you ever wondered how Death could be thrown into the Lake of Fire? Is death an entity – not a state of being??!)

Helpers?

Standard

I love this post, too!! Once God tells you He wants you the work with kids, teens, and young adults…He sends helpers!!! Praise God! This is exactly how to train them to be of help!!

Brian & Lisa's avatarThe Task At Hand

I was trained when I was 12 on how to be a helper during children’s ministry activities. That training, and the rest of the training I have received in subsequent years, has been vital to my life and ministry. But, I’m finding more and more that the training I received growing up is not something that is commonplace anymore. One of the main issues I have in children’s ministry isn’t even the children; it’s the helpers! Or, lack thereof. I train children’s ministry workers, but I feel like there should be a manual specifically written to the helpersin a classroom. So, here’s my basic manual on how to be a helper at any children’s ministry event. These are things that I expect from myself and the people I work with:

  • Participate with the children! If you expect them to play a game or sing a song or do…

Introduce them now.

Standard

I also work in children’s ministry with kids…and direct (with my son) our drama team of kids, teens, and young adults…I love this post! Well said!!

Brian & Lisa's avatarThe Task At Hand

I am a children’s ministry director at our church and I have worked with children since I WAS a kid, so it’s been a good 18 years of teaching (arrrg that makes me sound so old!). To me, introducing children to Christ is fairly simple and even somewhat of a “no-brainer.” I don’t say that to sound condescending; only to say that when you’ve been doing it for so long, you forget that it’s not “the norm” for everyone else.

This past week, I got an email from an old friend who wanted to know how best to introduce her 16 month old son to God. I began thinking that if she asked for advice, others might want the same. So, here’s some simple ways you can introduce your young preschooler (or older toddler) to God because honestly, it’s never too young for them to meet!

On My Own !

Everything in God’s timing…enjoy what’s He’s given at the time…delight in Him and He will give you the desires of your heart! Amen!!

shaunakatdalal's avatarThe Cosmos within me!

Living on my own like a jester or clown,

Making everyone happy even when I frown.

Giving them joy and place to resent,

Even when I’m lonely with sorrowful event.

I make myself fool for happiness of others,

To make them at ease but no one really bothers.

I look down with sorrow and no one to share beside,

Always on my own with tears that are dried.

Lost on faith to have someone,

Gaining my strength to travel all alone.

I looked up to me and a thought just sway,

How did I forget? that I was born this way!

With so much of strength and confidence inside,

Why was I sad? if no one’s by my side.

All by my self I have journeyed this far,

I have the potential that can heal my scars.

Living on my own has taught many things,

Made me stronger than rocks…

Finding … “HIM”!

Standard

Beautiful. powerful poem!!

shaunakatdalal's avatarThe Cosmos within me!

From the shade skies of thoughts, through the dark clouds of worry!

Through the mountains of uncertainty, From the sea of panic and scurry.

We journey everyday through all the turfs, and run for finding peace,

We go to seek peace in temples and churches, we never look inside us with ease.

We know many people for how they are!, But we fail to know a person closest to us.

He’s like eyelids  that protects the eyes, the only one to led us from all this fuss.

We search for him almost everywhere,in the shaded skies and deep in seas,

But wen we fail to find him and come back, we find him inside us resting in peace.

What to we do wen we are disturbed??

> We either go into silent place and resent OR

> We turn to God..

Have we ever tried to find answers ourselves…
